Wellpoint Washington is proud to sponsor Perinatal Support Washington (PS-WA), a non-profit organization committed to supporting families and communities by addressing perinatal mental health needs. Wellpoint support PS-WA in their mission to build a healthcare ecosystem that fully supports the emotional wellbeing of people in the perinatal period, making families and communities stronger.
By cultivating partnerships and investing in efforts that address critical priorities across the entire state, Wellpoint Washington has made a commitment to play a pivotal role in the health and wellbeing of all Washingtonians. Funds provided by Wellpoint to PS-WA has contributed to the following:
- Clinical Training Program which trains professionals to treat Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
- Warm Line that provides peer support to callers suffering from perinatal mental health issues
- Parent Resilience Program that pairs parents with a dedicated staff member to provide culturally matched wellness support
“Through our programs, the ultimate vision is to revolutionize perinatal mental health support, ensuring that every parent, regardless of their background, has access to the services and education needed for a transformative journey into parenthood. We aspire to break down barriers, especially in BIPOC communities where such support may be less accessible or normed. Our goal is to create a landscape where perinatal mental health is not only acknowledged but prioritized, fostering emotional well-being and resilience in all parents,” the group wrote in its annual report on the partnership.|

“This is an excellent example of building a relationship over several years to become a trusted ally in ensuring access to healthcare services and supports that meet the unique needs of our clients,” said Lisa Bogard, president of Wellpoint Washington. “PS-WA and their overarching programming is creating a more inclusive health and wellness environment for traditionally underserved communities, which aligns perfectly with the mission of our company.”
By addressing systemic barriers and providing behavioral health services during a critical time for moms and babies, Wellpoint Washington and PS-WA are establishing a new standard for comprehensive, inclusive perinatal care right here in Washington.
